When questioned re apparent improved performance, Tnr's rep stated gelding had been pleasing in its work and had expected a reasonable performance resuming from a spell over distance, however the stable was somewhat pleasantly surprised by the performance. Explanation noted.

Slow to begin. Blundered near the 200m and became momentarily unbalanced. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Improved onto heels near 200m & checked. When quest re ride early stages of h/straight, specifically as to reason/s why persisted attempting to improve between runners when it became apparent that run was diminishing & there was insufficient room. Rdr advised after taking trail in early and middle stages, had anticipated that runner continuing to improve & being able to take mount into race. However, when that runner failed to let-down as expected & his mount improved notably when pressured on straightening, mount improved & became awkwardly placed on heels for several strides & checked.

When questioned re performance, Rdr stated mare travelled well throughout the event, however proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race vet exam revealed the mare to be exhibiting a minor cough.
