Start of this race was delayed when this gelding had the near-fore plate refitted. Tightened for room and lost ground on jumping. Shifted in abruptly near the 700m and caused its rider to become unbalanced, as a result the saddle shifted down the nearside causing apprentice A Jones to be obliged to remove her foot from the offside iron, which placed her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event and BECAUSE THE NIGHT took no further competitive part. Lost both front plates in running.
