When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey J Byrne stated that his mount travelled well throughout and could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers representative B Killion undertook to report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
