When questioned re leading event, Rdr explained after being caught wide early, rode positively to take up a leading position & was able to cross & lead after 1800m-added after attempting to restrain gelding passing 1600m, mount failed to respond & commenced to over race for a considerable distance-further added passing 1200m, mount commenced to settle but was mindful gelding had obtained a considerable gap to the remainder of the field and commenced to weaken on entering the home straight.

Rdr reported upon entering the home straight, mount commenced to weaken, and became concerned with gelding's action. so elected not to place pressure on mount over the concluding stages. A post-race vet exam revealed lameness in its off foreleg. Vet cert required prior to racing again.
