Shifted out passing 1900m. Continued to be ridden from that point & obtain lead near 1200m. When asked re tactics, Rdr said told to put gelding into race if an opportunity arose, adding whilst left rearward trailing position & went forward & put gelding into race earlier than planned, thought this would not be disadvantageous given ridden similar in past. Tnr instructs were to be forward if possible as gelding is one-paced, adding surprised when horse was ridden forward as early as it was. Stewards advised Rdr should have permitted mount to maintain position with cover early.
