As Jockey P. Hamblin was unavailable and Jockey D. Peisley was delayed at the Gold Coast meeting, replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
Prior to the commencement of the race meeting, Stewards identified that due to the rail position the advertised start distance of Race 3 was incorrect. Subsequently, in consultation with the club, the distance was amended from 1890m to 1905m and announcements were made.
Race 1 - AG RIGGING FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1210M
UPSTART LOVER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
MISS LINNY – Slow into stride.
OCEAN JOY – Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied.
TAYLOR'S RAGE – Began awkwardly. Apprentice C. Lowe reported in her opinion the mare failed to travel up the hill, which may have been detrimental to its overall performance.
RUBAAHY – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied.
TASSORTIUM – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained to a position with cover in the early stages. Jockey N. Fazackerely reported the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer N. Keal confirmed it is the intention to send the mare for a spell.
ELEGANT LUCY – Raced wide throughout. Jockey C. Taylor reported the mare felt uncomfortable travelling up the hill and believes it may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J. Crompton advised she will make a decision on the preparation in the following days. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
WORLDY SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 2 - JLS BUILDERS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1210M
BASIL'S BOW – Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn.
RUBOLOGY – Trainer I. Turner was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the raceday declaration of F. Sandkuhl. Slow to begin. Apprentice F. Sandkuhl reported that after being slow to begin, she settled further back than intended. She added that after having to travel wide rounding the home turn, her mount let down well and she was pleased with the overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SIR GOLDALOT – Bumped on jumping. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
SNITZOND – Apprentice K. Lenton advised in her opinion the gelding will appreciate a step up in distance at its next race start
EINSTAG – Momentarily eased near the 1100m when close to the heels of SNITZOND (K. Lenton) which shifted in. Apprentice K. Lenton was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 150m, had to be eased when close to the heels of AZUKI.
CRACKER ESSGEE – Bumped on jumping.
EVERYWHERE – Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn.
SHINING PROISIR (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having not raced since July 2025. Laid in approaching the 600m and made contact with the running rail. Passing the 500m, had to be eased when close to the heels of BLAME THE WHISKEY which had shifted in slightly.
STARWARD – Began awkwardly.
AZUKI – When questioned in relation to the tactics, including the tempo he set in the race, apprentice R. Thorburn explained it was his intention to settle in a handy position and after showing superior speed to SNITZOND, which in his opinion may lead the event, he elected to take up the lead and added he was comfortable with the tempo that he set on the gelding. Stewards noted his comments.
VIZSTAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 3 - QA CHAMBERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1905M
GOOD PHILLY – Apprentice O. Kendal reported the mare was fractious in the barriers, which is unusual for the mare. She added that the tempo of the race did not suit her mount and she raced only fairly when placed under pressure. She further added that GOOD PHILLY may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer V. Heading reported he was pleased with how the mare had pulled up following the race with the intention to consider continuing on with her current preparation.
I DROVE ALL NIGHT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Eased down over the final 150m. Jockey L. Tilley reported in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer B. Wiblen reported to Stewards that the gelding had returned to the stable in good order, but added her intention is to send I DROVE ALL NIGHT for a spell.
BLUMSTIEN – Began awkwardly.
O’CALDINO – Apprentice R. Thorburn reported he was instructed to lead in today’s event and added that after beginning well he allowed his mount to stride and found the lead passing the winning post on the first occasion. He then continued to allow O’ CALDINO to stride as he was of the opinion it was best to not fight the gelding, who races best rolling along at a solid tempo. He further added that near the 800m, he became aware of the margin he had established on the field and was able to give O’CALDINO some respite before placing it under pressure from the 400m whereby the gelding responded well and was strong to the finish. Stewards noted his comments.
THE COPS – Raced wide in the early stages before finding cover near the 1400m.
MINI BOO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
PROCLAIMER – Slow to begin.
THE MANIPULATOR – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey N. Tomizawa reported his mount wanted to lay in from the 600m and proved difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination found the presence of blood at both nostrils. Trainer Gersekowski was notified that in accordance with AR79(4), THE MANIPULATOR shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. Trainer L. Gersekowski advised it is the intention to now retire the gelding.
Race 4 - SUPER ROOSTER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1110M
CIPHER SHOW – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey N. Tomizawa reported from the wide barrier he was asked to be in a forward position, but after being caught wide, he elected to come back and find cover. He added that from the 600m his mount was off the bridle and didn’t respond to his riding, proving disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
DO A LITTLE DANCE – Began awkwardly. QOP firmer $2.6 - $2 (unplaced fav). Rider G. Cartwright reported that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages but rounding the home turn raced a little green and became under pressure quickly. She added that the gelding took time to build momentum in the straight and will derive benefit from further racing.
TISANI JAMES – Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout.
ALL THOSE GLITTERS – Hampered on jumping between SHOES AND SOCKS and BURUM BEAU. Shortly thereafter, shifted out abruptly, becoming unbalanced. When questioned, apprentice R. Thorburn explained that after the filly was bumped and became very awkward after the start, losing significant ground, he wanted to allow the filly to find a rhythm and travel comfortably to gain experience, rather than attempting to race up to join the field. He added that when placed under pressure in the home straight the filly raced very greenly, shifting in abruptly, so he elected to ease his mount down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer K. Kemp was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for its racing manners. K. Kemp advised Stewards it was his intention to retrial the filly.
BURUM BEAU – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ALL THOSE GLITTERS.
DISCO DIAMOND – Began awkwardly.
FINEST – Bumped on jumping.
STORM PETAL – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. QOP drifter $4.6-$9. Jockey H. Shaw reported in his opinion the tempo of the race didn’t suit his mount, adding that the filly would benefit from the run and further racing. Trainer P. Robl was at a loss for the performance of the filly, which worked well in the lead up to today’s race and he anticipated a forward showing. Stewards asked P. Robl to advise them of anything that comes to light that could explain the below market performance of the filly.
TUXEDO TORPEDO – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout.
ZHIVAGO BELLA – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly throughout.
SHOES AND SOCKS – Bumped on jumping.
When pulling up following the running of this race, Jockey H. Richardson was dislodged from DISCO DIAMOND which shifted in abruptly. H. Richardson was attended to immediately by QAS where she complained of some discomfort in her right knee but was subsequently cleared. DISCO DIAMOND was caught soon after. To avoid a delay in correct weight, Stewards exercised their powers under the provisions of AR208(3)(b) and declared correct weight in her absence.
Race 5 - RDO EQUIPMENT JOHN DEERE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M
CONQUER DAT – Laid out from the 600m. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
IGOTMYMINDONYOU – Apprentice K. Lenton reported her intention was to lead in today’s race, adding that after the gelding found the lead, it traveled well but when placed under pressure at the entrance to the home straight, was inclined to lay out slightly. She further added that in her opinion the gelding failed to see out a strong 1000m.
PORTLY JACK – Slow to begin.
JOHNNY THE FOX – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SEPURA EXPRESS. Approaching the 800m, whilst racing keenly, had to be eased from the heels of IGOTMYMINDONYOU (K. Lenton) which shifted in. Apprentice K. Lenton was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Jockey H. Shaw reported the gelding wanted to hang in under pressure in the home straight and was very green. Trainer P. Robl was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance of the gelding other than it may not have appreciated the Toowoomba racing circuit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ONE OF THEM GIRLS – Passing the 150m, laid in and brushed the running rail. Apprentice O. Kendal reported that approaching the 100m after her mount laid in, she raced in restricted room to the inside of CONQUER DAT, which was racing greenly and as a result she had to ease her mount for a stride.
KID MCKINLAY – Stewards approved apprentice C. Lowe to only claim 1kg of her allowance in this race. Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice C. Lowe reported her mount wanted to lay in significantly when under pressure in the home straight, whereby she elected to ride hands and heels to keep KID MICKINLAY in rhythm rather than using her persuader.
