OFFICIALS
Chairman of Stewards – R Hanson.
Stewards – E Suli & G Wust.
GENERAL
The following horse was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 8.17am due to no rider being available at the meeting:
Race 1: FLASHMASTER
Stewards accepted the reason given by trainers for the late declaration of a riders at today’s meeting.
Race 1: ARTHUR & BERYL MOODY MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight to review patrol footage of the start and determine whether MAYBE had been denied a fair start. After considering the patrol footage and taking evidence from apprentice N Olzard, rider of MAYBE, and starter G Brown, it was established that MAYBE had not been fully loaded into its allocated barrier when the starter gave all clear and effected the start. As MAYBE was not fully loaded, the mare was denied the opportunity to begin on equal terms with the remainder of the field, lost significant ground, and was immediately eased by its rider and took no competitive part in the event. Accordingly, Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR204(1)(c), declared MAYBE a non-runner and ordered that all bets placed on the mare be refunded in full, subject to the following deductions:
1st BOOMROUX – 13c win, 12c place

PENSIERO – Bumped with FLOP TURN RIVER and was slow into stride as a result.

When asked to comment on the performance of FINE SHOT, apprentice G Semmens stated that after beginning slowly and racing wide, the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stages throughout the event. Apprentice Semmens added that in her opinion, FINE SHOT would be better suited racing over shorter distances.
HERE HE LOOMS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced in restricted room for a short distance between the 700m and 800m. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
