GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight –
Race 6: R. Maloney +1kg (56kg)
Race 1 - EZY PROJECTS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350 M
IMMINENT APPEAL – Bumped at the start.
MR BIGGS – Shifted in at the start and bumped IMMINENT APPEAL.
PUNGWE RIVER (GB) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m and bumped ZEPHYR SONG.
CRAZY EIGHTS – Became fractious prior to the start being effected and got its head down under the front barrier partition. Bumped at the start. Jockey B. Thompson reported that the gelding failed to travel throughout the event and proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that a warning would now be placed on the gelding in relation to its barrier manners.
KONIGSTEIN – Connections advised a change of tactics in that KONIGSTEIN would attempt to settle with cover. Ridden accordingly – settled worse than midfield.
DUN DARTE CHEAP – Approaching the 150m was slightly inconvenienced by NETWORK, which shifted out when racing greenly.
NETWORK – Began awkwardly and bumped CRAZY EIGHTS. Near the 800m, tightened for room and had to be steadied when KONIGSTEIN shifted in. Near the 700m, raced keenly at the heels of KONIGSTEIN and had to be steadied. Jockey R. Maloney the rider of KONIGSTEIN was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
I TRIED SO HARD – Shifted out at the start and bumped IMMINENT APPEAL.
ZEPHYR SONG– Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages. Bumped leaving the 100m.
Race 2 - PIRCSA BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2240 M
SUPER FAIR – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
DEEMEE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
ICONIFY – Held up approaching the home turn. Improved onto heels near the 700m and shifted wider. When questioned regarding his riding between the 700m and the home turn, in particular whether there was the option to remain racing in a three wide position after shifting wider at the 700m, Jockey D. Moor advised Stewards that he had given consideration to continue racing three wide, however was mindful that it was the geldings first attempt at the trip and in his opinion, had peaked on its run last start and for this reason he elected not to improve three wide and allowed WHATJEUDOIN’ to progress forward of him. Jockey D. Moor added that in hindsight, he had erred in not continuing to maintain a three wide position. Stewards, when assessing the riding of Jockey D. Moor and the video footage, agreed that he had erred at that point, however, were not of the opinion that his riding at that point of the race was unreasonable and took the mater no further, other than to advise Jockey D. Moor not to leave his riding open to questioning.
AYASAKI – Laid in under pressure approaching the winning post.
Race 3 - ETHOS BUILDING & RESTORATION CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1650 M
PERFECT PLAY (GB) – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. Lost its off fore plate.
VIXENETTE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
BURLEIGH MAGIC - Began awkwardly. Steadied near the 1500m from the heels of PERFECT PLAY (GB), which shifted in. Apprentice R. Houston was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 600m, had to be steadied from the heels of PERFECT PLAY (GB) when over-racing and as a result, became unbalanced and lost ground.
Race 4 - SILVER WOLF PROJECTS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
CAPTAIN REDCLAW – Raced wide throughout.
DEFIANT CODE – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied.
READY SET TERGO - Bumped leaving the 600m by CAPTAIN REDCLAW, which laid in.
STAR ROUGE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey B. Thompson reported that the colt raced greenly throughout.
CAVALLUNA – Improved onto heels approaching the winning post and had to be steadied.
JOLAYNA DASH – Began awkwardly, momentarily unbalancing Apprentice E. Pozman. Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied.
Race 5 - INSUREBUILD CLASS 3 PLATE 1200 M
ABENDER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
RAZORS – Laid in under pressure near the 50m.
STREET CHASE – Began awkwardly.
THE POOL BOY – Slow to begin.
INFLUENTIAL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
STORMLAND (NZ) – Jockey B. Thompson reported that the gelding travelled well until the 500m point, however when under pressure, proved disappointing in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SOUTHERN HEIRESS – Laid in near the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice B. Youngberry reported that from the 600m the mare was inclined to lay in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 6 - JOHNS LYNG GROUP BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1350 M
ZOUPER FUND – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn.
LOCKYER – Hampered at the start and lost ground.
SIR CARTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Lismore 25/09/26 and was cleared to start.
CELESTIAL BLAZE – Shifted in at the start. Near the 1100m, had to be steadied from the heels of SIR CARTER, which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice R. Thorburn, the rider of SIR CARTER was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Jockey M. Rodd reported that his mount was inclined to over-race in the early stages.
CUTEPI – Bumped with LOCKYER at the start.
ITALIAN DANCER – Raced keenly at the heels of CELESTIAL BLAZE approaching the 1000m.
SILENT CALL – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
SHE MOVES TOO – Near the 150m, raced in restricted room.
STARMAN – Near the 150m, was brushed by SHE MOVES TOO, which improved to its outside. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey T. Marshall reported that the gelding travelled well, however did not quicken as anticipated and proved disappointing.
Race 7 - ARC PROJECTS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1110 M
BLUE WHITE BLUE - Bumped near the 500m by SAVAGE SEQUEL. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
BENT BRIDGE – Near the 250m, momentarily held up on the heels of the weakening FEARLESS WIN. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
DRINKWATER – Bumped at the start.
CARDONETTE – Bumped at the start.
CIPHERTEXT– Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CARDONETTE. Raced wide in the early stages. Gave ground from the 500m and was eased down in the home straight. Apprentice B. Youngberry reported that the mare did not feel entirely comfortable in its action and commenced to give ground from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer H. Page was advised that CIPHERTEXT would now be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
CONFORMITY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn until the 200m. Leaving the 200m, was bumped by FEARLESS WIN and became unbalanced.
DUKE OF ALBEMARLE – Began awkwardly and bumped DRINKWATER. Obliged to alter course near the 250m.
FEARLESS WIN - Whilst weakening leaving the 200m, shifted out, bumping CONFORMITY and as a result became unbalanced.
SAVAGE SEQUEL – Began awkwardly. Shifted out near the 500m and bumped BLUE WHITE BLUE.
