GENERAL

Trainer I. Turner was fined $100 pursuant to AR65 for failing to produce the Thoroughbred Identification Cards for SHOT GLASS and DELIGHTED DEELER.

Race 1: TAB HOLLINDALE STAKES DAY ON SALE MAY 10TH MAIDEN HANDICAP 1540M

The start of this race was delayed approximately eight minutes when the farrier was delayed arriving on course and SHOT GLASS, MONFARETTO and ALL EYES ON HER all required farrier attention prior to the start. SHOT GLASS, MONFARETTO and ALL EYES ON HER were all examined by the Veterinarian on arrival at the barriers and were cleared to start. The start was further delayed when ALL EYES ON HER became fractious in the barriers, was removed and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:30pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on ALL EYES ON HER be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st – SYNERGY IN MOTION – 9c win, 8c place.
2nd – GLENRAY’S MATE – 13c place.
3rd – REMLAP KAVA – 11c place.
 
Stable representative B. Killion was advised that ALL EYES ON HER would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.
 
NATIONAL GOAL – Apprentice J. Williams dropped his whip near the 50m. Apprentice J. Williams reported that the gelding was disappointing in its efforts and believes it has come to the end of its preparation. Trainer P. Robl confirmed it is his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
SHOT GLASS – Began awkwardly  
 
SAVEA – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
SILK WARRIOR – Change of tactics; to settle further back with cover. Settled in a midfield position with cover.
 
FRANKEL MOON – Slow into stride.
 
MEASURED – As the start was effected, got its head down and began awkwardly, losing significant ground. Trainer A. Chau was advised the MEASURED would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.
 
GLENRAY'S MATE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
REMLAP KAVA – Change of tactics; to settle further forward from the good barrier. Settled on pace.
 
Jockey S. Cormack was examined by the QAS official following the running of this race after bumping his foot leaving the barriers, and was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
Race 2: WOMEN IN RACING INC 20TH ANNIVERSARY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes due to the delay in race 1.
 
FORTUNATE DRAGON – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISS IMPRESSIVE – Began awkwardly and bumped with FRENCH RIVIERA.
 
BLUE LEGEND – Approaching the 900m, momentarily steadied when racing tight.
 
FRENCH RIVIERA – Bumped on jumping. Near the 900m, steadied to avoid the heels of BLUE LEGEND.
 
DARLING TAKE CARE – Bumped on jumping. Apprentice J. Williams reported that the gelding didn’t appreciate racing on the synthetic surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LEICA PHERRARI – On arrival on course was kicked, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
 
NETWORK ERROR – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer J. Grob advised that last start the mare was first up for his stable from a break, where its condition gave out over the concluding stages. He added that since then, the mare had a jumpout during the week and he expected a forward showing in today’s event.
 
DELIGHTED DEELER – Jockey S. Cormack reported that the filly didn’t appreciate the kick back in today’s event.
 
POINT TWO – Apprentice R. Thorburn was reprimand pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line.
 
Race 3: SILKS UNDER THE STARS APRIL 11TH BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1900M

GO MILLO – Began awkwardly. Near the 150m, held up on the heels of WHISTLING SPIRIT before shifting out leaving the 100m to secure clear running.
 
RED MILE – Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped EPIC FLASH. Laid out rounding the turn leaving the home straight on the first occasion. Raced wide throughout.
 
WHISTLING SPIRIT – Apprentice J. McMurray reported that his mount hung out throughout the event and when placed under pressure, he was obliged to stop riding and straighten on many occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to next racing.
 
GOT YOURSELF A GUN – Steadied near the 500m. Cast its off-hind plate in running.
 
PRINCETON AWARD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
EPIC FLASH – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SMOKIN MATCH – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
FORCE ME (NZ) – Stewards permitted apprentice R. Thorburn to only claim 1.5kg of his 2kg allowance when no other apprentice was available. Apprentice R. Thorburn was fined $100 pursuant to AR 143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance. When determining penalty, Stewards considered apprentice Thorburn’s good record in relation to this rule.
 
Race 4: THE SPRING WATERMAN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1050M

I AM VOODOO – Blundered on jumping. Race wide throughout.
 
SPIRIT OF BRODIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 800m, improved onto the heels of PLATINUM LIES and had to be steadied. Near the 500m bumped with SPIRIT OF MAC. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI GANGSTER – Near the 150m, checked and became unbalanced when tightened for room to the inside of SPIRIT OF BRODIE (A. Thompson) which when being ridden along, laid in and away from PLATINUM LIES which shifted in marginally. Jockey A. Thompson was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for failing to make a greater effort to straighten his mount.
 
PLATINUM LIES – Cast its near-hind plate in running.
 
SPIRIT OF MAC – Near the 500m bumped and taken wider when SPIRIT OF BRODIE shifted out.
 
DON'T BE DRAMATIC – Race wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: TAB WE'RE ON BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M

The start of this race was delayed slightly when DEE STORMED, reared in the barriers and got its front legs over the gates. Subsequently the gelding was removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching 2:43pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DEE STORMED be refunded in full with following deductions to apply:
 
1st – SHARPIN POWER – 2c win, 3c place.
2nd – SHOOTING WONDERS – 2c place.
3rd – PROMETIO MAS – 3c place.
 
Trainer R. Beaton was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to next racing.
 
SHOOTING WONDERS – Leaving the 1000m, tightened for room and had to be steadied when PROMETIO MAS (J. Murphy) shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey J Murphy was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
THROWIN SHADE – Leaving the 1000m, steadied off the heels of SHOOTING WONDERS. Near the 300m checked from the heels of SHOOTING WONDERS (F. Sandkuhl) which shifted out. Apprentice F. Sandkuhl pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 300m, she rode her mount out when insufficiently clear of THROWIN SHADE which was obliged to check and lose its rightful running. Apprentice F. Sandkuhl’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight the 11th of April 2025 and to expire midnight the 22nd of April 2025. When determining penalty, Stewards considered apprentice Sandkuhl’s guilty plea, good record in relation to this rule, level of carelessness and the QRIC careless riding penalty guidelines.
 
GERRYMANDER – Raced wide throughout.
 
TAPIS MAGIQUE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOOD KILLER – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a rearward position with cover.

Race 6: HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY DAVID DELAHUNTY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M

RYLOV – Laid out rounding the home turn. Leaving 200m was disappointed for a run, steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
BEAT HOLLOW – Laid in during the early stages. Trainer A. Chau was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
FENTON – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GRAND CRUSADER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRYMENOTEARS – Near the 1100m, tightened for room and had to steadied when taken in by GUERRERA which was taken in by BEAT HOLLOW (B. Lerena) which shifted ground whilst laying in. Jockey B Lerena was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for failing to make a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting in. Raced wide throughout.
 
COUNT NICHOLAS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 900m when racing keenly, was tightened for room and had to be steadied when WHOMSONEVER (J. McMurray) shifted in. Apprentice J. McMurray was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
GUERRERA – Near the 1100m, taken in by BEAT HOLLOW.
 
MIDNIGHT IN AUSTIN – Near the 1100m, raced in restricted room and was eased.
 
Race 7: AQUIS STALLIONS THE HOME OF 2YO SPEED BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200M

Correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice R. Thorburn, rider of the 3rd placed PESHWA to view the Stewards vision of the home straight. After viewing the footage, apprentice Thorburn elected to take the matter no further.
 
DIVINE OKAY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
PESHWA – Laid in under pressure in  the home straight. Near the 100m bumped with ELLIEZ STAR. Again near the 50m bumped with that runner.
 
KRAKARIB – Began awkwardly, lost ground and shortly after was checked off the heels of SUSPECT. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ELLIEZ STAR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Near the 100m bumped with PESHWA. Again near the 50m bumped with that runner. Apprentice J. Williams advised that the mare became awkward in its action over the final 50m and for this reason he didn’t pressure his mount out to the finish line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have heat stress and ataxia. Trainer B. Ainsworth was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.
 
DUNLOE – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m, disappointed for a run and obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.
 
WHISKEY DANCER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
BOKUDEN – Raced wide throughout.
 
VELOCE METEOR – Race four-wide without cover throughout.
 
SUSPECT – Blundered on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer J. Grob was advised that in accordance with AR79(4), SUSPECT shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. 
 
Race 8: WELCOME RACINGX BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1540M

EXPOSITION – Jockey B. Lerena advised the gelding weakened quite notably in the home straight and was making a respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
KAREEM – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BIAS – Near the 150m, disappointed for run and was steadied. Again, near the 50m, disappointed for a run and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
GREGARIOUS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
RUSSIAN MYSTIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BETTER YET – Slow to begin.
 
HONGKONG HARMONY (USA) – As jockey A. Thompson was overweight, he was replaced by jockey J. Murphy. Jockey A. Thompson was fined $100 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. When determining penalty, Stewards considered jockey Thompson’s good record in relation to this rule.
