Race 1: BRC MILLINERS MARKET 11 APRIL QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1300 Metres
THEE CREEK – Connections advised of a change of tactics – attempt to be ridden with cover if possible. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly.
PROFOUNDLY – Began awkwardly. Rider D. Thornton reported that he was obliged to settle further back than expected however in his opinion, the filly finished off the race satisfactorily. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MEANER THAN EVIL – Bumped heavily on jumping.
ISLAND BOY – Passing the 500m, was hampered and had its hindquarters contacted by ZARLA which attempted to shift out to improve where there was insufficient room to do so.
KING TAGALOA – Connections advised of a change of tactics – attempt to race forward with cover if possible. Ridden accordingly. Shifted in on jumping and bumped heavily with MEANER THAN EVIL. Over raced throughout.
EGYPTIAN GODDESS – Over raced during the early stages.
ON POINT PIXIE – As rider D. Turner was overweight he was replaced by rider J. Bayliss. Rider D. Turner was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3).
ZARLA – Passing the 500m attempted to shift out to improve. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until a point passing the 250m.
POWERFUL CROWN – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied off heels whilst over racing and continued to over race during the middle stages. Approaching the 600m, shifted out abruptly. On return to scale, rider T. Marshall indicated that the filly shied at a point passing the 600m resulting in his mount shifting out abruptly.
KICKUPHIGH – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
Following the running of this event, Stewards addressed concerns with the riding group regarding POWERFUL CROWN shying at construction at the top of the straight. After reviewing the films, the riding group reported to Stewards that they were comfortable to continue riding.
Race 2: RACECOURSE VILLAGE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1805 Metres
DIVAKARA – Raced wide throughout.
FIOPROSPERO – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MANNERHEIM – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m, after shifting out to a position one off the fence had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of LIKE SMOKE.
LIKE SMOKE – Over raced during the early stages. Approaching the 150m disappointed for a run between DO IT FOR YOU and DIVAKARA which was carried in by PEROVIC which shifted in and away from TSUNODA which laid in under pressure.
MEDICAL AUTOCRAT – As apprentice C. Collis was unable to claim his full allowance, he was replaced by apprentice T. Fenlon. Apprentice Collis was fined $200 pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance.
PAPAL MISS – Slow to begin.
TSUNODA – Over raced during the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
DO IT FOR YOU – Raced wide throughout.
JENNI MOREESE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TERMITE – Trainer G. Forge was advised that the gelding’s nomination would be refused at Metropolitan meetings until TERMITE can establish form at provincial or country level.
Following the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a Soft (6).
Race 3: BRC MEMBERSHIP BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 2200 Metres
LIKEABEEL – Rider R. Dolan reported that the gelding raced flat today. Trainer P. Busuttin advised that he would report back to Stewards anything of note in the coming day’s in light of LIKEABEEL’s performance.
AMALGAMATION – Connections advised of a change of tactics – attempt to settle midfield if possible. Settled at the rear of the field.
FLASH PRINCE – Approaching the 400m, momentarily inconvenienced by KIPTANUI which shifted out. Jockey B. Andrew, rider of KIPTANUI, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
KAYLEEN'S PROFIT (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
Race 4: XXXX SIDELINE BEER GARDEN 3 MAY BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1500 Metres
JETTY – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 500m. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that in his opinion, the gelding may have gotten its tongue over the bit and had recommended the addition of a tongue tie to connections.
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
AMICUS CURIAE – Over raced during the early stages. Near the 300m, apprentice C. Bellamy dropped her outside rein before regathering a short distance later.
BOLDINHO – Connections advised of a change of tactics – intention to lead if possible. After being hampered between runners on jumping, settled in a position outside the leader. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a slow recovery.
IMATRUESTAR – Slow to begin.
PATTON – Rider T. Marshall reported that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s track conditions.
TYPHOON TIP – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1200m, became awkwardly placed at heels of JETTY which shifted out marginally. Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: THE GIBSON OPEN HANDICAP 1805 Metres
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, jockey L. Tarrant, rider of third placegetter RED TOP lodged an objection against second placegetter ANEMACORE (J. Byrne) alleging interference approaching the 150m. After taking evidence from both riders and viewing the patrol footage, it was evident that ANEMACORE approaching the 150m, shifted in encroaching on the running line of RED TOP causing that runner to shift in and taking it off its rightful running. Considering the nose margin, Stewards upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the amended numbers of 3-8-5-10.
WARP SPEED – Raced wide the majority.
POLITICAL DEBATE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CABOCHE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
THAT'S MOLLY – Slow to begin.
ANEMACORE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early and middle stages. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 150m.
HOLSTEIN – Approaching the 1000m, when making the turn, shifted out becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of CAPRICE DES DIEUX.
RED TOP – Raced wide throughout. Obliged to alter course near the 150m when ANEMACORE shifted in under riding. Jockey J. Byrne, rider of ANEMACORE, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in this incident.
YOUTH SPIRIT (IRE) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of a slow recovery.
CAPRICE DES DIEUX (FR) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 50m, shifted out and became awkwardly placed at the heels of ANEMACORE.
THE CATCH – Over raced during the early stages.
Race 6: LADBROKES CALCUTTA & LUNCHEON 13 JUNE BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
The start of this race was delayed 4 minutes when ECONOMICS became cast in the barriers after IMMORAL contacted the back of the barriers when being loaded and was scratched on veterinary advice at 2.31pm. FLASH AAH which was loaded in the barrier adjoining ECONOMICS was contacted in the head during this incident and was also declared a late scratching at 2.31pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on ECONOMICS and FLASH AAH be refunded with the following deductions to apply:

IMMORAL – Slow to begin.
AVONE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
HURTS SO GOOD – Passing the 800m, had to be steadied and shifted out across the heels of MIGHTY which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. A warning was placed on the racing manners of MIGHTY.
WILD BOTANICA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MIGHTY – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have mild abrasions to the right hindlimb and a slow recovery.
Race 7: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of second placegetter SUPER DAISY to view the patrol footage of the home straight. After viewing the footage, connections decided not to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
TOJAKI – Shifted out on entering the home straight before being corrected by its rider
SHIHAB – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected.
CENTRESTONE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
FINE SHOT – Shifted in on jumping. Raced three wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of mild heat stress.
NOBLE CONQUEROR – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room passing the 300m between MERCHANT FLYER and FINE SHOT. Passing the 200m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of FINE SHOT which shifted out marginally.
MERCHANT FLYER – Passing the 200m, was momentarily inconvenienced having its hindquarters contacted by NOBLE CONQUEROR who was carried wider on the track by FINE SHOT which shifted out. Apprentice C. Collis, rider of FINE SHOT, was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in this incident. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 8: XXXX CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 Metres
THE FACE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MASTER SHOWMAN – Approaching the 100m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of BLUE SPINEL which shifted out under pressure and was obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.
SUBSTANTIAL (GB) – Passing the 1000m, was contacted and as a result shifted wider on the track. Passing the 500m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of RHYTHM OF LOVE which commenced to shift out to improve. Rider A. Mallyon, rider of RHYTHM OF LOVE, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in this incident. Passing the 300m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DAYTONA which shifted out after becoming awkward at the heels of SAILOR’S SECRET which shifted out. Apprentice C. Bellamy pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the 300m, she allowed her mount (SAILOR’S SECRET) to shift out under riding when insufficiently clear of DAYTONA, which was carried out onto SUBSTANTIAL which had to be steadied from heels. Apprentice Bellamy’s license to ride in races was suspended for 10 days commencing midnight the 8th of April 2025 until midnight the 18th of April 2025.
DAYTONA – Steadied from heels passing the 300m.
RHYTHM OF LOVE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m, momentarily inconvenienced and had to be steadied when crowded for room between SAILOR’S SECRET and HEROIC MISS which was carried out marginally by BLUE SPINEL.
Race 9: SKY RACING QTIS 3YO QUALITY HANDICAP 1200 Metres
SUPERALLOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
BOOMTOWN BOSS – Approaching the 1000m, steadied from heels whilst over racing.
SAMMY CONQUERS ALL – Began awkwardly.
BENZOU – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding her instructions and tactics adopted, rider C. Graham reported that her instructions were to settle midfield preferably with cover. She stated that after beginning well, the gelding commenced to over race when she attempted to restrain so she allowed BENZOU to stride forward to a position outside the leader. Stewards noted Ms Graham’s comments.
YABBY PUMP – A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
COSMO CENTAURUS – Began awkwardly.
BENGAL DIAMOND – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages. Approaching the 1000m, commenced to over race, and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BLITZUM which shifted in. Jockey R. Dolan, rider of BLTZUM, was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a). In issuing penalty, Stewards were mindful of the evidence of jockey M. Du Plessis in that BENGAL DIAMOND had raced fiercely up to the point of the incident. Trainer A. Campton reported that it was the filly’s first start racing without earmuffs and that it was the stable’s intention to add them back to the filly’s gear.
READY TO IGNITE – Hampered on jumping. Passing the 1000m, commenced to over race when BOOMTOWN BOSS shifted out when over racing. Approaching the 900m was obliged to steady to avoid heels of COSMO CENTAURUS.
TAKE A BOW – Passing the 600m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of SUPERALLOY.
DUROVA – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight, obliged to alter course when awkwardly placed on the heels of SUPERALLOY which shifted out marginally. Jockey R. Maloney was advised to exercise further care. Passing the 100m, hampered and carried wider by COSMO CENTAURUS which shifted out to improve. Apprentice B. Wheeler, rider of COSMO CENTAURUS, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in this incident.
BLITZUM – Cast the near fore plate.
Race 10: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS OPEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
COMRADE ROSA – Slow to begin.
AT WITZ END – Trainer D. Bowen was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Raced wide throughout.
MISHANI SNIPER – Began awkwardly. Commenced to give ground in the home straight and pulled up shortly after the winning post. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised that MISHANI SNIPER will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
