GENERALRace 3 - PLANNED ENCOUNTER (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 11:04am after arriving on course with lacerations and swelling to its off hindleg. Trainer N. Hocking was advised PLANNED ENCOUNTER (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Stewards questioned Trainer T. Gollan regarding the scratching of TENZING from Race 4 Vecchio Property Group Open Handicap 1600m. Trainer T. Gollan stated that it was always his intention to start TENZING but after speaking with the ownership group, it was decided that the gelding would be better positioned racing in a Metropolitan race next week at Eagle Farm and based on the advice from the ownership ground, the gelding was scratched on the 21/3/2025. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 1: EVIE NETWORKS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1830 MFREE CARRY – Apprentice E. Lang reported in her opinion her mount failed to run out the 1830m and would be better suited to a 1600m. Trainer T. Gollan concurred with Apprentice E. Lang’s comments and further added the gelding may not have appreciated the prevailing racing conditions. THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. AIMPOINT – Passing the 1300m was carried wider on the track for a short distance before obtaining cover approaching the 1100m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. TAVISTORM (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild upper respiratory sounds. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised TAVISTORM (NZ) would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to resuming. DIVAKARA – Jockey R. Maloney on return to scale reported that his mount was dour throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. LUCKY EXCHANGE – Bumped the rail passing the 1100m. Race 2:MERCEDES-BENZ BRISBANE BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 2200 M WARP SPEED – Over raced during the middle stages of the event. TORRENS – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early and middle stages of the event. TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and altered course shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. MAHAGONI (GB) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. ARIZONA DREAMING – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight before being corrected. BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Over raced passing the 1200m and was obliged to steady after improving onto heels. Race 3: GOTRANSIT MEDIA GROUP CLASS 1 PLATE 1400 M OLE BAZZLE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Jockey N. Beriman reported at scale that her mount may have got its tongue over the bit. SOUTH SEA – Passing the 200m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of GLOWLIGHT which shifted out to improve. Jockey A. Mallyon rider of GLOWLIGHT pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 200m, after improving onto the heels of YEAH COPY, shifted out abruptly causing SOUTH SEA to have to alter course to avoid heels. Jockey A. Mallyon’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, commencing midnight 24/3/2025 up to and including midnight 4/4/2025. WINSOME STAR – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 200m was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Lost its off hind plate. RAMP IT UP – Raced wide throughout. Trainer L. Gough was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. GLOWLIGHT – Bumped after the start with MIST OF DAWN. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and up until a point passing the 200m before shifting out to improve into clear running. MIST OF DAWN – Bumped after the start with GLOWLIGHT. PUCCINI DREAM (NZ) – Began awkwardly. SINGLE 'N' READY – Over raced during the middle stages. INSINUATE – Began awkwardly. Making the turn passing the 1200m, commenced to over race resulting in the filly shifting wider on the track, becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of LEICA GLOVE (NZ). LEICA GLOVE (NZ) – Over raced during the early and middle stages. On return to scale, Jockey M. Rodd reported his mount raced fiercely throughout the event and failed to settle at any stage. Following the running of Race 3, the track was upgraded to a Good 4. Race 4: VECCHIO PROPERTY GROUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 MKRONENBOURG (NZ) – Approaching the 1000m, had to steady to avoid the heels of EXPECTANT which shifted in after being carried wider on the track for a short distance. Apprentice T. Fenlon rider of EXPECTANT was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. EXPECTANT – Approaching the 1000m was carried wider for a short distance by DEVASTATE (NZ) which shifted out for a short distance before shifting back in. RUSSIAN RONI – Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THIS’LLBETHEONE which shifted in. Jockey T. Marshall rider of THIS’LLBETHEONE was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Race 5: CHEMIST WAREHOUSE CLASS 6 PLATE 1000 MAKAKA FALLS – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve. MR GALAZI – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m had to steady from the heels of SUPER DAISY which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey N. Beriman rider of SUPER DAISY was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. BLUE SPINEL – Began awkwardly. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 800m after MR GALAZI shifted out whilst being restrained. OUTWEIGHED – Hampered rounding the home turn when WILD BOTANICA shifted out. Approaching the 200m, momentarily inconvenienced by WILD BOTANICA which shifted out. Jockey J. Bayliss rider of WILD BOTANICA was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lacerations to both hind legs. RUSH HOUR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. SUPER DAISY – Began awkwardly. WILD BOTANICA – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.Race 6: PITCHER PARTNERS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1000 M GIN A TONIC – Began awkwardly. Laid in over the concluding stages. SPEEDY ONE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. HIDDEN NUGGET – Began awkwardly and lost ground. STATE IN TEXAS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. LIMAHULI - Apprentice C. Vitler pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the winning post, he allowed his mount to shift in carrying HIDDEN NUGGET onto LIMAHULI and as a result, LIMAHULI had to check when carried in across the heels of DEVINE FORCE. Apprentice C. Vitler’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 29/3/2025 up to and including midnight 7/4/2025. DEVINE FORCE – Obliged to alter course over the final 50m. Jockey J. Lloyd rider of GIN A TONIC pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the winning post, he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of DEVINE FORCE and as a result, DEVINE FORCE was checked and blundered passing the winning post. Jockey J. Lloyd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 22/3/2025 up to and including midnight 30/3/2025. ROCKY REWARD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild heat stress. BENZOU – Raced wide throughout. Race 7: ACE. FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 MTOJAKI – Hampered on jumping. SIZZLING GAL – Began awkwardly. Hampered and carried wider passing the 500m. TRACK TALE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. ANAVINCI – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 500m and was obliged to shift wider to improve. Lost its off hind plate. RUBY CHICKS – Hampered on jumping. FIELD OF MYRTLE – When questioned regarding Jockey A. Mallyon’s riding of FIELD OF MYRTLE in the middle stages and on entering the home straight, in particular if Jockey Mallyon had an opportunity to improve his position from the 600m onwards, Jockey Mallyon stated that after riding the mare two starts prior at Ipswich and after examining the footage of the mare’s previous start at Eagle Farm, he was of the opinion that FIELD OF MYRTLE could not sustain being placed under pressure too early in the event and was better suited to being exposed to a short, sharp sprint. He added that his early assessment was that GALWAY HUSSLER and HERMANITA, had established a genuine tempo which in his opinion, both horses would be unable to sustain so on straightening, he was comfortable in how the mare was travelling without placing FIELD OF MYRTLE under full pressure. He further added that passing the 300m; after placing the mare under pressure, FIELD OF MYRTLE responded strongly to his riding and finished the race off in a positive manner. He added in hindsight, he should have put greater emphasis on the apprentice claim on HERMANITA and should have exposed the mare further out than what he did. Trainer M. Dunn when questioned stated that he also was of the opinion that the mare had a short, sharp sprint but was of the opinion that Jockey Mallyon erred in not placing the mare under pressure earlier on straightening. Stewards advised both A. Mallyon and M. Dunn that they intend on adjourning to review the wagering on the race and the previous race starts of the mare to a time and date to be fixed. CELESTIAL HARBOUR – Began awkwardly and shifted out. GALWAY HUSSLER – Began awkwardly. Race 8: ETHOS ORTHODONTICS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 MPIZARRO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. HELLUVA BARTY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Jockey L. Dempsey could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. HURTS SO GOOD – Whilst being restrained in the early stages in an attempt to obtain cover, commenced to over race for a considerable distance passing the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 100m shifted in and away from DIVINE OKAY before being corrected. PATTON – Passing the 100m, raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of HURTS SO GOOD which shifted in and away from DIVINE OKAY before being corrected. FISTSOFFURY – Began awkwardly. Lost its near hind plate. Race 9: VALE ASH PEDLER BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1400 M CADETSHIP – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported at scale that in his opinion the gelding may not have handled the quick 7 day back up. PAL D'ORO – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 250m. WARBY – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve. FRENCH ENDEAVOUR – Slow to begin. Passing the 250m, raced in restricted room having its hind quarters contacted by PAL D’ORO. Passing the 100m, hampered and shifted in and away from KEITEL which shifted in before being corrected. Apprentice B. Wheeler rider of KEITEL was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. KEITEL – Began awkwardly.
