QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT WARWICK TURF CLUB THURSDAY 26th DECEMBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 Races 1 – 3; Good 3 Races 4 – 8 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – J Childs, T Preston & D MacDonald GENERAL As App R Thorburn was unable to fulfil his engagements due to personal reasons, Jockey L Tilley left the course and was subsequently unable to fulfil his engagements after Race 2 and Jockey A Bakos-Schrapel was unwell, replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. Stewards permitted the following overweights at todays meeting: Race 1- Jockey J Stanley +1/2kgRace 4- Jockey M Wishart +1kgRace 8- Jockey M Hellyer +1/2kg Race 1: PSP VIDEO MAIDEN PLATE 800m FRED'S MEMORY- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure. Raced wide for the majority. GIGGY- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. BRONZE MEMORY- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. DUCK OUT- As App J Williams was unable to satisfy the allotted weight, Stewards permitted App C Baker to be substituted as rider of the mare. App Williams was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR190(3). Dwelt in the barrier. Raced greenly in the home straight. SPLIT THE CASH- Fractious in the barrier. Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Became awkwardly placed on heels having to be momentarily steadied approaching the 400m. TILUSSION- Laid out under pressure down the running, proving somewhat difficult to ride out. COPENHAGEN CAT- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. LADY SEVERINA- Momentarily crowded approaching the 600m. SHAKEN MARTINI- Raced wide for the majority. SOUND THE BUGLE- Slow into stride. Shifted in marginally approaching the 400m and momentarily crowded SPLIT THE CASH. Raced greenly in the home straight. Race 2: WARWICK SAND & GRAVEL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m HEADLINE LEGEND- Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J Thomas advised that the geldings preparation had been interrupted due to weather conditions and as such may have been lacking in fitness entering into todays event, compounded by being first up from a spell. BUTWEDID- Dwelt in the barrier and slow into stride. Momentarily crowded near the 150m. ADELAIDE GIRL- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Improved onto heels and shifted out momentarily crowding BUTWEDID. App J Franklin was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. MASERATI LADY- Raced keenly near the 1100m when being steadied to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Held up for clear running for a short distance leaving the 400m. SUNSHINE SALLY- Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Raced keenly near the 600m. CEEKAY'S CHOICE- Over-race near the 1100m when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover nearer the inside running rail. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running, momentarily crowding BUTWEDID near the 150m. App C Baker was advised to exercise greater care in similar situations. FLY MISS ARTIE- Raced keenly near the 600m. Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey K Zechner was unable to offer any explanation for the performance. Trainer C Geran advised that the filly, which settled just off the pace, may have struggled to run on with the firmer track conditions. Mr Geran added further that he felt the notable betting fluctuations weren’t all together justified and that the stable had not supported the filly with bookmakers on this occasion. BOYSAREBACKINTOWN- Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: ENSBEY ELECTRICAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m Due to delays as a result of QAS attending to an oncourse patron, the start of this event was amended to 2:18pm. RED SUTURE- Began awkwardly and bumped. BATE- After beginning only fairly, settled further back in the field than may have been expected. Momentarily held up for clear running near the 250m. PRIVET (NZ)- Raced keenly when being restrained leaving the 1000m in an effort to obtain cover nearer the inside running rail. Was unable to do so and raced wide without cover for the majority. ALPINE RAIDER- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in abruptly approaching the winning post having to be corrected by its rider. SKYPORT LANE- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Following the running of this event, the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3. Race 4: TREVOR LOCKE MEMORIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m CITY OF TROY (NZ)- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Laid out near the 900m. DEL TITO- Laid in near the 500m and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. Laid in rounding the home turn and under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out. VINCENT- Raced keenly in the back straight. Laid in leaving the 400m when commencing to tire. FIRE AND LIGHT- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly down the back straight. Improved onto the heels of a tiring runner, shifted out and bumped leaving the 400m. BEAN BALL- As the gelding was resuming after recovering from a minor rim fracture to the near-fore pedal bone, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. This was advertised by way of social media and on course public address. Bumped, shifted out and bumped a further runner on jumping. CHATTERBOX- Shifted out on jumping and bumped, became unbalanced and blundered. LUVTOKNOW- Bumped on jumping, becoming awkwardly placed on heels and steadied soon after. DELLUCY- Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 300m and shifted in. ABI'S GIRL- Raced keenly down the back straight. Bumped and taken wider by another runner near the 350m. Race 5: TREVOR SCHOORL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350m GRINZINGER KNIGHT- Bumped on the hindquarters near the 1200m and became momentarily unbalanced. Raced keenly down the back straight. Shifted out and bumped near the 950m. UNLEASH- Raced keenly from the 1100-900m when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover. SUPER QUICK- Jockey J Stanley was reminded of his obligation pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish of the event. Stewards noted that Jockey Stanleys actions had no bearing on his mounts finishing position, his good record in relation to the rule and that the lack of vigour had been confined to within the final stride of the event. Nonetheless, Jockey Stanley was advised far greater vigour is expected in similar finishes. SPOKE TO RAJIV (NZ)- Bumped near the 950m. Raced wide for the majority. BELLA BABE- Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped near the 1200m. Race 6: SANDY CREEK PUB HAM OFF THE BONE SPRINT CLASS 2 PLATE 1350m JACKS AND SODA- Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in and effort to obtain cover nearer the inside running rail, was unable to do so and race wide without cover for the majority. LITTLE SHOW- Began awkwardly and lost ground. GOT THE VIBE- Bumped approaching the 1200m. Raced keenly near the 1000m. Laid in and bumped approaching the 300m. KAREEM- Began awkwardly and bumped. Crowded and bumped approaching the 1200m. Held up for clear running approaching the 400m. MEDICAL AUTOCRAT- Bumped approaching the 1200m. TOKYO BANDIT- Slow to begin. Laid out and bumped approaching the 1200m. Bumped when disappointed for a run approaching the 300m before shifting in. Jockey J Stanley advised that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have appreciated todays firmer racing surface. INESSA- After beginning well, was ridden positively in the early stages and consequently settled further forward than may have been expected. SOOZIE MAREE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR- Bumped on jumping. Laid in near the 200m. DUSTYIAM- Bumped the inside running rail near the 700m. LAVONI- Bumped on jumping. SACRED BULL- Bumped on jumping. Race 7: W CAREY & SONS MEATS / HYNES NEWSAGENCY BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1100m The start of the event was delayed when HELIKEDEMPRETTY dislodged App C Lowe in the preliminary, broke through a section of the outside running rail and galloped some distance in an adjoining paddock before being captured by the clerk of the course. As the field had arrived at the barrier, all runners were returned to the race-day tie-ups. App Lowe was examined by QAS and declared free of any injury. HELIKEDEMPRETTY underwent a veterinary examination which identified no significant abnormalities but was nonetheless declared a late scratching on precautionary grounds by Stewards. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:53pm: 1cent in the dollar for the win2cents in the dollar for the place on the winner5cents in the dollar for 2nd place4cents in the dollar for 3rd place Trainer R Hay was advised the gelding would be required to trial under race-day conditions prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Once the section of running rail was restored all runners were re-inspected by Stewards and returned to the mounting yard with the start time of the event amended to 5:15pm. ADALIE- Bumped soon after the start. Momentarily steadied from heels near the 1000m. Shifted in marginally near the 700m, crowding another runner. Raced wide for the majority. SNEAKY SHARK- Improved into restricted room having to be steadied near the 700m. PIA MIA- Laid out near the 1000m and hampered HEYOKA. Jockey K Zechner was advised to exercise greater effort in preventing his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Tired over the final 200m. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey K Zechner and Trainer C Geran both advised that, in their view, the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. DECISIVE LASS- Began awkwardly. Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 1000m having to be steadied. HEYOKA- Shifted out and away from heels before being momentarily steadied near the 1000m. Momentarily steadied from heels near the 700m. Raced keenly near the 600m. INLANDA- Raced keenly near the 600m. TOO MUCH MAKEUP- Began awkwardly before bumping soon after. Laid in, momentarily hampering ADALIE near the 1000m. App S CHampkin was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Again, laid in near the 700m momentarily hampering HEYOKA. App S Champkin was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure down the running proving difficult to ride out and tired over the concluding stages. Trainers representative N Hemmings was advised a warning would be placed on the mare as a result. Race 8: MAYDAN LIVESTOCK TPT/FREESTONE FEEDLOT MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1200m The start time of this event was amended to 5:53pm due to earlier delays HADOUKEN- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. JACK BE LUCKY- Laid out under pressure down the running. ART BY CONCORDE- Bumped on jumping. Improved into a doubtful run near the 100m, bumping on several occasions and shifted out. SUNFALL- Momentarily crowded near the 700m. Held up for clear running from the 500m until the early stages of the home straight. Disappointed when attempting a marginal run near the 150m, having to be steadied and as a result went to the line without being fully tested. MICRO- Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running from approaching the 200m until being steadied and shifted out around heels leaving the 200m. Before again being held up for clear running over the final 100m. QUADE- Raced keenly near the 900m. DIACO- Bumped on jumping. Obliged to shift wider away form heels leaving the 100m. Shifted out further away from heels and bumped approaching the winning post. GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ)- Began very awkwardly and bumped heavily. Raced keenly leaving the 900m. Laid in and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels leaving the 600m. Laid out leaving the 100m, taking ART BY CONCORDE, which was attempting a doubtful run wider, which in turn took CAN’T GETWHATIWANT wider also. SIR CARTER- Bumped approaching the wining post. CAN'T GETWHATIWANT- Laid in near the 700m and momentarily crowded SUNFALL. Held up for clear running form the 500m until entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure down the running. Bumped and taken wider leaving the 100m. SMOKE 'N' OAKUM- Laid in under pressure down the running. Held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 100m. SMART ACTION- Began awkward contacting the nearside barrier gate, before bumping heavily with another runner, becoming unbalanced and losing ground. App T Fenlon advised that she had mild soreness in her left elbow as a consequence of contacting the barrier gate on jumping.
