Racing Queensland has paid tribute to former top jockey and trainer Ron Conquest who passed away yesterday after a long illness.
Ron first made his name in racing as a jockey, winning the Stradbroke Handicap twice before becoming a trainer. As a trainer he had early success in the 60’s before the mid-90s when his top sprinter Blazing Steel won eight of his 20 starts. Mr Conquest was 86.
