THE QUEENSLAND RACING CARNIVAL IS WHERE CHAMPIONS EMERGE.

Last year, it was Apache Chase and Alligator Blood that shone brightest, and this year the tradition continues.

Staged over 10 action-packed weeks, more than $25 million in prize money will go on the line, including eight Group 1s – seven of which surpassing $1 million.

The Queensland Racing Carnival heads to Doomben for the first Group 1 of the Winter Carnival, with the Doomben 10,000 now running for $1.5 million as the first of a trilogy of million-dollar sprints on offer.

Elsewhere on the card, the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate will set the scene for the Group 1 Queensland Derby a fortnight later, while the juveniles will be looking to make their mark in the Group 2 Spirit Of Boom ahead of the J.J Atkins later in the carnival.
