Mr Hocking stated that recently he had been stepping the mare up in distance which in hindsight had been to its detriment, and following those performances he then elected to freshen the mare and drop back to today’s distance of 1000m and add blinkers for the first time. Mr Hocking further added that in his opinion Regal Eyes has performed best at the Sunshine Coast. Stewards noted his comments.

When asked regarding the performance of DEVIL’S RITE App Jones stated after being slow to begin the gelding failed to muster early speed and Miss Jones added that it did not appreciate today’s track conditions and felt that it would be better suited over a step up in distance.
