Stewards inquired with M Rodd, rider of BRAZEN BRECCIA, as to whether an opportunity existed at a point near the 1000 metres, when challenged for the lead by VOIGHT, to restrain his mount to obtain cover. He stated at that point of the race his mount was travelling comfortably and as it is a big horse that wears a tongue tie he was concerned BRAZEN BRECCIA may not continue to travel if overly restrained. M Rodd further stated he did not wish to be caught behind VOIGHT which, in his opinion, was not a strong chance in the race adding that the tempo at that stage of the race was not significant.

When questioned regarding performance, rider stated mount, which weakened in the straight, had sweated up prior to the event and the only other possible explanation for mount’s performance was that it may not have handled its big impost of 61kg. A post race vet exam rev no abs. Stable rep advised had pleased in the lead up to today’s race and a forward showing was expected and he expressed disappointment with its performance. He further undertook to have the stable report back to Stewards on a full veterinary examination including the results of an endoscopic examination.
