When asked to comment on the performance Z Lloyd advised the horse was inclined to over-race when leading adding that it was only having its third start in a race and SHANI AWARD may have not been suited to the step up to the 1666m of today’s event.

Jockey stated after his mount began only fairly and failed to muster sufficient speed in the initial stages, it ultimately settled further back than anticipated. Mr Heathcote added that when having its first start for his stable at the Sunshine Coast on 29th January 2022, was forced to race wide and was beaten only 3.9 lengths and therefore he was not entirely disappointed with its performance on that occasion.
