When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, jockey Thompson stated his intentions were to try and lead but when unable to do so, he was forced to race wide in the early stages and elected to restrain his mount in an attempt to find cover. He added that his mount hung when rounding the home turn and when he placed KINKY DREAMS under pressure in the home straight, she only responded fairly, and he elected to not place his mount under any further pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Jockey Zechner explained that he had intended in securing a forward position however the gelding failed to muster early speed and when crossed by outside runners this resulted in the gelding settling further back than anticipated.
