Jockey C Whiteley reported the gelding had a tendency to laid out during the event and was reluctant to stretch out during the middle stages. Jockey Whitley added that in his opinion the gelding didn’t not appreciate the heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off hind leg.

When questioned, rider stated his mount never travelled in a comfortable rhythm throughout the event and this caused him some concern in respect to how the gelding would finish its race off. He added, after shifting out to improve into the race, his mount was under pressure and did not finish its race off in the straight. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Trainer satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding but advised that the gelding will now be spelled.
