The start was delayed when Lily Ofthe Glen broke through the gates after being loaded, travelling a short distance and as a result the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Brushed another runner when tiring between the 200 metres and 100 metres. Trainer R. Miller advised Stewards post-race that the mare had pulled up with soreness in the near foreleg. He was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before Lily Ofthe Glen again races.

Risked It jumped normally on terms with the field and was not encumbered by this towel which had immediately dislodged. Jockey D Smith was reprimanded under the provisions of AR204(b) and instructed to remove any towel prior to the start in future. Hung out at the 600 metres when leading allowing Spanish Beans to obtain a run to the inside.

Pluckercarn had begun better than expected and Apprentice J Edwards stated that she then elected to lead on the gelding. Apprentice Edwards advised that Pluckercarn did not settle in front and commenced to concede ground sharply over the final 200 metres. The explanation of Apprentice J Edwards was noted. It was noted that Pluckercarn commenced to overrace from the 1100 metres.
