Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run between KING OF THE DESERT and MONTEZ which shifted out slightly. Near the 200m was checked when attempting to obtain a narrow run between KING OF THE DESERT which shifted out and SHINSHINTO which shifted in marginally under pressure. Stewards inquired into this incident and were not satisfied that COTTON FIELDS had established a run at this point of the event and ruled that the horse was disappointed for this run.

Tnr reported although satisfied with post-race condition of gelding it has now been spelled. Rdr stated passing 800m mount dropped the bit & was under pressure to hold posn. Rdr stated mount just ground to line from this point & whilst its manners in early stages may have been to its detriment in running out the journey, of which it was attempting for the 1st time, it was nevertheless disappointing. P/R vet exam no ab's.

When asked to comment on the filly’s performance rider R Fradd stated after beginning slowly he elected from the wide draw to restrain for cover as NICCI’S SPIRIT was stepping up in distance. R Fradd further added the filly pulled very hard which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on its performance and felt would be better served dropping back in distance.
