Maloney was questioned regarding his tactics after settling at the rear of the field, he stated that it had been his intention to race in a more forward position however the mare did not muster early speed and when inconvenienced near the 1100m, he elected to steady in an attempt to obtain cover closer to the rail. Jockey R. Maloney further stated that when the pace of the race slackened, he was obliged to check from heels near the 800m and given the circumstances of the event he was pleased with the horses finishing effort.
