When questioned in relation to the performance rider J. Taylor stated from near the 700m the mare failed to respond to his riding and lost significant ground. J. Taylor added that the horse had a high head carriage and made abnormal respiratory noises throughout the event. J. Taylor added that from near the 400m he became concerned for the horse’s welfare and desisted in riding the mare out in his normal manner to the line. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which was beaten 38.8L, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer advised mare would be required to trial PTNS.
