Max's Source Slow to begin after the barrier partition swung back as the start was effected. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Esk 17/12/2022
Outback Playboy Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Rider reported that even though his mount over raced in the middle stages his mount still travelled well and was of the opinion that his mount was a winning chance on straightening. He added when placed under pressure his mount failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery. Near the 600m, when the pace steadied and whilst over racing, shifted wider on the track. Continued to over race for some distance. J Huxtable, rider of fourth placegetter TOLKOWSKY, pleaded guilty to charge under AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race and was fined $400.
