He said after beginning well from the inside barrier, and without pressuring his mount, he was left in a leading position, whereby the gelding raced too keenly and was unable to finish the race off. A post-race vet exam revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer representative advised that the gelding may not have been suited by stepping up in class and added that no issues had appeared since the run.

Trainer P Moody confirmed the instructions given and added that he was expecting the filly to settle off the pace rather than leading..
