As J Huxtable was injured, Stewards permitted W Peel to ride the filly. Jumped out at the start and bumped MR CASHMAN. When asked to comment rider W Peel explained the gelding never travelled throughout the event and weakened in the home straight when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed SCATHING to have atrial fibrillation. Trainer C Munce was advised SCATHING must obtain a veterinary clearance, including the results of a satisfactory ECG test, and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Vet clearance, results of ECG & has since trialled.
