When questioned regarding tactics adopted (in the presence of senior rider M Hellyer) apprentice C Collis, stated that there were no specific instructions issued other than to allow the gelding to settle where comfortable in the field. Apprentice Collis was conscious of the recent form of LETS TORQUE A DEAL, which had led by similar margins in a recent start, and began to pressure his mount from the 600m in an attempt to close the margin. Apprentice Collis felt that by allowing LUCKY EXCHANGE to quicken earlier, it may have had a detrimental effect on the geldings finishing effort.
