When asked to comment on tactics adopted particularly in the middle stages of the race when the pace was eased, Apprentice B Wheeler stated that after steadying the speed near the 1000m, NO MORE RED was unable to quicken when DAMIANI improved quickly around the field to lead from the 800m. He added that in hindsight he had erred in respect to the degree he steadied the pace of the race, and the horse would have been be better served being allowed to stride more comfortably in the middle stages.

Jockey C Bayliss reported that as a result of being hampered at the start, he was forced to race in a rearward position which he felt was the major contributing factor to the geldings below market expectation performance as the horse was reluctant to race through the kick back.

When qst re opportunity to shift out near 600m, rdr std not an option as he would have caused interference. Std passing 400m he shifted out to follow a rnr forward & after bumping, mnt became unbalanced & shifted out further near 300m before closing off well over final 250m.
