On returning to scale apprentice Y Lewis reported that the gelding failed to muster early speed however this is consistent with its customary racing pattern. Apprentice Lewis added that the gelding made some late ground, however, would be much better suited in races over a greater distance than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Lloyd was prevented from riding his mount out in his usual matter due to SELF INDULGENT shifting out when under pressure.

When asked to comment regarding the gelding’s performance Jockey J Byrne stated that it was his intentions to be following THE KEWESS forward from the 600m and when that runner failed to improve as expected he was then obliged to come wide on the home turn. Jockey Byrne was satisfied with the gelding’s effort and felt that the lack of speed in the early part of the race made it difficult to make ground. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
