Inclined to lay out from the 600m until rounding the home turn. Rider J. Morris reported that his mount was inclined to hang out for a major part of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the right foreleg with some foot soreness.

Rdr std was able to secure lead in early stages without pressuring his mount & then attempted to slow the tempo passing the 1200m, however colt raced fiercely, refused to settle & established a considerable margin on remainder of field. Added colt travelled more comfortably after the 800m, however as a consequence of its racing manners in the early stages it was unable to finish its race off over the final 100m.

Cahill reported that he was instructed to lead on the horse, and rather than overly restrain the horse he allowed it to stride in the early and middle stages and was able to slow the tempo near the 900m. He added that the horse was under pressure from the 500m and disappointed in its effort. The gelding underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
