On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Inconvenienced near the 1200 metres when OCEANIA PRINCESS laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Commenced to over-raced near the 900 metres and a short distance later obliged to steady from the heels of OCEANIA PRINCESS which shifted in when racing ungenerously. Rounding the home turn steadied when placed in restricted racing room when RIGHT REASON shifted out and OCEANIA PRINCESS which was tiring and racing ungenerously, shifted in. N Callow, rider of RIGHT REASON, was advised to exercise greater care.

Obliged to steady from the heels of TAAFFEITE near the 300 metres which shifted out when not fully clear. R Stewart, rider of TAAFFEITE, was advised to exercise greater care.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

When qst, rdr std instructed to have mnt where comfortable & remain racing on fence as long as possible in superior ground. Std mnt obtained midfield position on rail, however it was racing greenly & seemed to resent racing inside other rnrs to the point that passing the 600m it laid in & away from another rnr, made contact with the rail & became unbalanced. Added near 400m he shifted mnt out to improve, but near the 300m it shifted out abruptly & ran very wide on h/turn. A post-race vet exam rev no abs. Tnr advised must trial before racing again.

Added from this point, mnt commenced to overrace & was reluctant to settle resulting to race wide & without cover. Added passing the 700m, obtained cover behind rnr but shortly after this elected to shift to the outside of rnr as he was mindful of rnr improving to outside & did not want to be held up rounding home turn.
