Rider could offer no explanation for the performance of the colt which was having its first start. He said having regard to the manner in which the colt travelled throughout the event, he expected it to close its race off, however, when under pressure in the straight it did not respond well to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs.
